"A New Year's Greeting From Channing"
I hope you all have a happy and safe weekend as you celebrate the arrival of 2009. The year 2008, with all its uncertainty, has been a wonderful year for me personally. Of course it's had its hills and valleys, but God used those hills and valleys to shape and mold me in many areas of my life. One of those areas is the area of Faith. I'm talking about the total surrender to God Almighty. We all know He can do anything He wants. This year, I have learned that God not only can, but that He will, if we ask and believe...whatever the need. Through God strengthening my trust in Him, He has drawn me into a more intimate walk with Him. You know, James 4:8 says, "Draw nigh to God, and He'll draw nigh to you." To draw nigh to something or someone means to draw near or close. The bible don't just say, Draw near to God...period...end of sentence. The Word tells us that if we do something, (draw near to God), that He would then do something, (come near to us). Wow! Isn't it amazing that the God of all creation wants a personal, intimate relationship with us? Simply Amazing.
I want to take a moment to thank two very special people in my life, Dr. Bruce McCray and his dear wife, Pam. Bruce is the pastor at Elmore City First Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma. I know Bruce and Pam from my Gold City days. Bruce and I have stayed in constant touch over the years. Bruce is one of my closest friends. Pam is a prayer warrior that keeps my family on her prayer list. I thank God for friends like these. One year ago, as I was feeling God's leading into this solo ministry I am now in, I called Bruce for advice and counsel. It was New Year's Eve 2007. Bruce gave me some wonderful, Godly counsel. But, most importantly, he advised me to bathe it in prayer and allow God to put all the pieces together. As we were ending our conversation, he promised me that he and Pam would be in prayer about it as well. One month later, God did exactly what Bruce said He would do. I stayed out of the way as God began to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Dr. Bruce and Pam, thank you for your friendship and prayers! Our love and prayers are with you. God bless you!
Thank you all again for making this year so special. We are looking forward, with anticipation, to 2009. We are expecting GREAT things from God in this new year. Make sure to stay in touch with us at our website, www.channingeleton.com
